Andalusia Opens School Year With Staggered Start as €30 Million Climate Plan Expands

The government touts staff reinforcements, family aid, expanded school climatization.

  • Classes begin today for more than 700,000 pupils in Infant, Primary and Special Education, with a total of 1,792,749 students and over 130,800 teachers across 7,243 centres as Secondary and Bachillerato start on September 15 and special-regime studies on September 22.
  • President Juanma Moreno announced €30 million to extend the bioclimatization program to 80 additional schools, lifting total climate investment to €190 million.
  • Teacher staffing rises by more than 3,100 in the public system to 108,657 posts, with 331 more in the concertada, and the €256.8 million salary-equalization process is now complete.
  • Roughly €900 million in school-related aid will reach more than one million families, averaging €820 per household and covering items such as free first-cycle childcare, meal subsidies, transport and free textbooks.
  • Authorities report 247 infrastructure projects finished or nearing completion for €51.64 million benefiting about 104,000 students, alongside expanded complementary services at 2,328 centres with projected use by over 200,000 canteen diners, around 127,000 morning-classroom users and 88,000 in extracurriculars.
