Andalusia Accelerates Health Overhaul With €543 Million Málaga Hospital Award and 3,000 Seasonal Hires

  • The Junta awarded the Málaga third hospital contract to the Sando–OHLA–Vialterra joint venture for €543.3 million (€449 million before VAT), with a 75‑month build and a 23‑year car park concession.
  • The project is financed through the Andalucía 2021–2027 FEDER program, split 85% European funds and 15% regional funding, with construction expected to start in the first half of 2026.
  • The new hospital is planned with 815 rooms, 48 operating theatres, 80 ICU beds and extensive outpatient areas, and will be built in phases starting with parking facilities before the main complex.
  • The SAS is offering full‑time contracts to cover 1 December 2025 to 31 January 2026, aiming to hire more than 3,000 nurses and physiotherapists drawn from new posts and temporary needs.
  • The staffing plan approved on 22 October sets an initial net increase of 3,893 positions, including 1,080 for nursing and physiotherapy and 1,200 for doctors, plus allocations for new infrastructure, screening programs and primary care.
