Ruins of Nero's theater mentioned in ancient texts found under future Four Seasons hotel near the Vatican.
Theater was used by Nero in the 1st century A.D. for poetry and music rehearsals.
Discovery made during planned renovations of Palazzo della Rovere.
Site contains marble columns, gold decorations, and remnants of costumes and backdrops.
Portable antiquities will go to a museum while theater ruins will be re-covered after studies.
