Ancient Egyptian Tombs and Mummification Workshops Discovered in Saqqara
- Archeologists recently found workshops dating back 4,000 years used for human and animal mummification in Saqqara, Egypt.
- The workshops contained clay pots and tools used in the mummification process and were decorated with scenes of daily life.
- Two tombs from ancient Egypt's Old and New Kingdoms were also uncovered in Saqqara.
- The discovery was made near a temple dedicated to the Egyptian cat goddess Bastet where mummified cats were found in 2019.
- Egypt hopes promoting these new discoveries will boost tourism which has declined due to COVID-19 and conflict in Ukraine.
