Anchorage Digital Adds Etherlink Custody, Bringing Tokenized Uranium into Bank Accounts

The move gives institutions segregated custody at a federally chartered bank and removes a major operational barrier to holding onchain commodities.

Overview

  • Anchorage Digital said on Thursday it now supports seven Etherlink assets in segregated accounts at Anchorage Digital Bank, N.A., including xU3O8, WXTZ, stXTZ, USDT, USDC, USDSM and WETH.
  • xU3O8 is a token that represents physical U3O8 (yellowcake) held by custodians and it had about a $9 million market capitalization at recent prices.
  • Anchorage places the Etherlink assets inside bank custody so existing institutional clients can access them immediately through their current Anchorage setup without opening a separate workflow.
  • Etherlink is an EVM-compatible layer 2 that lets developers use Ethereum tools while settling to Tezos layer 1, which helps tokenized real-world-asset projects move onchain with faster finality.
  • By meeting auditor, fund administrator and lender custody requirements, Anchorage’s integration could make it easier for allocators to buy fractional, onchain commodity exposure and may speed broader institutional adoption of tokenized real-world assets.
