Overview
- Davide Ancelotti made the comments in an interview published on Saturday and said Real Madrid have not compensated for Kroos’s departure and that the midfielder is effectively irreplaceable.
- Ancelotti called Kroos “the master of the game,” saying he dictated tempo, made key decisions for the team and routinely covered about 11 kilometres per match.
- When asked about possible solutions, Ancelotti named Rodri as a player who would conceptually fit the deep‑laying playmaker role Kroos occupied.
- Kroos acknowledged the praise by reposting Ancelotti’s remarks on Instagram with a heart emoji hours after the interview, underscoring his continuing cultural influence at the club.
- Reporters link Kroos’s exit to Real Madrid’s tactical shift toward more vertical runners, the club’s recent two‑season major‑trophy drought, and several coaching changes, and say Madrid may need to adjust tactics or pursue a specialist midfielder to restore balance.
