ANC Nullifies ANCYL Suspension Spat, Secures Apology Before December Congress

The move aims to steady the youth league before its elective gathering at the University of Limpopo.

Overview

  • ANCYL president Collen Malatji and secretary-general Mntuwoxolo Ngudle issued suspension letters against each other earlier in the week.
  • Following a meeting with ANC secretary-general Fikile Mbalula, the ANC announced that all suspensions are null and void.
  • The ANCYL NEC agreed to withdraw the letters, and Ngudle will issue a public apology, according to ANC spokesperson Mahlengi Bhengu.
  • The ANC called on the league to prioritise the 27th National Congress, set for 14–17 December 2025 at the University of Limpopo in Polokwane.
  • The clash is tied to preparations for the congress, with allegations of exclusion and reported questions over age eligibility for some leaders, alongside recent tensions such as a hacked Facebook page.
