ANA to Offer Free High-Speed Wi-Fi on International Routes with Viasat Amara
Installation on three 767-300ERs starts in fiscal 2025 toward equipping more than 80% of ANA’s international fleet by 2030.
Overview
- Viasat’s Amara platform leverages a single antenna to access multiple satellite networks and orbits, delivering streaming-quality speeds onboard.
- ANA will retrofit three Boeing 767-300ERs by March 2026 and outfit all six by March 2027 before expanding to its widebody fleet.
- The carrier plans to install Amara on 19 Boeing 787-9s and 18 Boeing 777-9s, subject to Boeing’s certification process and delivery schedule.
- Tomoji Ishii, ANA’s executive vice president for customer experience, said the upgrade will mirror ground-level internet performance throughout flights.
- The free service responds to growing passenger demand for reliable, fast inflight Wi-Fi and challenges fee-based models still offered by some rivals.
