Amy Adams and Jenna Ortega in Negotiations for 'Klara and the Sun' Film

Taika Waititi to direct the adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro's successful novel, with production expected to start soon.

Amy Adams and Jenna Ortega are in negotiations to star in Taika Waititi’s film adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro’s novel 'Klara and the Sun'.
The story revolves around Klara (Ortega), an Artificial Friend designed to prevent loneliness, who is purchased by a mother (Adams) for her teen daughter suffering from a mysterious illness.
The novel was published in March 2021 and debuted on the New York Times’ Best Sellers Hardcover Fiction List at No. 3.
This is one of the first projects announced for Ortega since her departure from the 'Scream' franchise in November 2023.
Production for the film is expected to start in the coming weeks.
