Amul Tops ICA World Cooperative Monitor 2025 as IFFCO Takes Second

The ICA’s 2025 monitor uses a GDP-per-capita metric to recognize Amul’s farmer-owned model with broad social impact.

  • GCMMF, marketer of the Amul brand, was named the world’s top cooperative at the ICA CM50 conference in Doha, with IFFCO ranked second.
  • The World Cooperative Monitor 2025, produced by the International Cooperative Alliance with EURICSE, bases the ranking on a turnover-to-GDP-per-capita ratio.
  • Amul operates a three-tier cooperative network of more than 18,600 village societies representing about 3.6 million milk producers, most of whom are women.
  • Managing director Jayen Mehta said the Amul brand is owned and run by farmers and highlighted contributions to UN Sustainable Development Goals including poverty reduction and gender equality.
