Amul, Nandini and Mother Dairy Cut Prices as GST Overhaul Takes Effect

Milky Mist raises procurement prices to support farmers.

Overview

  • GST Council rate cuts on dairy take effect Sept. 22, moving UHT milk and paneer to 0% GST and lowering butter, ghee and cheese to 5%, with many plant-based milks (excluding soya) now at 5%.
  • Amul’s parent GCMMF reduced prices across more than 700 SKUs and notified distributors and Amul parlours nationwide.
  • Karnataka Milk Federation’s Nandini issued a revised rate card, including ghee 1L down to Rs 610 from Rs 650 and paneer 1 kg to Rs 408 from Rs 425.
  • Mother Dairy said it cut prices on select value-added dairy items and Safal processed foods to pass on the GST benefit.
  • Milky Mist increased milk procurement prices by about 3.5% and will pass most tax savings to consumers, while partially absorbing paneer benefits to protect availability and quality.
