Amul Cuts Prices Across 700 Products From Sept. 22 After GST Overhaul

Amul says the full GST pass-through is meant to lift consumption for the benefit of its 3.6 million farmers.

Overview

  • GCMMF published a new price list effective September 22 with reductions on more than 700 Amul packs to pass on GST 2.0 cuts, including butter 100g ₹62 to ₹58, butter 500g ₹305 to ₹285, a 1-litre ice cream tub ₹195 to ₹180, processed cheese 1kg ₹575 to ₹545, and ghee 1L ₹650 to ₹610.
  • Price cuts cover categories such as butter, ghee, UHT milk, cheese, paneer, ice cream, chocolates, bakery and frozen snacks, condensed milk, peanut spread, and malt-based drinks, while pouch milk remains unchanged due to GST exemption.
  • Amul has communicated the revised MRPs to distributors, Amul Parlours and retailers nationwide, and it has provided a portal for consumers to verify the updated prices.
  • The move follows GST Council changes taking effect September 22 that exempt UHT milk and pre-packaged paneer and set a 5% rate for items like butter, ghee, cheese, condensed milk and ice cream.
  • Other dairies are aligning with the pass-through as Mother Dairy announced similar reductions earlier in the month and Karnataka Milk Federation’s Nandini issued new MRPs that also begin September 22.
