Overview
- The Harivansh Rai Bachchan Memorial Trust has submitted a building plan to the Ayodhya Development Authority for a dharamshala with more than 20 rooms and the authority has published a public notice opening a 15-day window for objections.
- Ayodhya Development Authority vice-chair Anurag Jain confirmed receipt of the application and said the plan will be examined after the objection period before formal approval is granted.
- The trust purchased the plot at The Sarayu development along Dashrath Path for about Rs 15 crore and proposes the facility as a memorial to poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan.
- News outlets report that construction could begin in October if the plan clears ADA scrutiny and there are no blocking objections or regulatory issues.
- The project links literary commemoration with Ayodhya’s growing pilgrim infrastructure and could add organised low-cost accommodation for visitors while fitting into wider private and institutional investment in the town.
