Overview

  • Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Chhattisgarh from June 22 to 23 to review counterinsurgency operations and inaugurate new forensic science facilities.
  • The Centre plans to build a National Forensic Science University on 40 acres in Naya Raipur at a cost of about ₹400 crore, with an adjacent 6–7-acre state forensic lab.
  • Shah will tour a security camp in the Bastar region and meet the family of ASP Akash Rao Girepunje, who was killed by a Maoist-planted IED in Sukma on June 9.
  • Since the BJP took power in 2023, Chhattisgarh security forces have neutralized over 400 Maoist cadres and eliminated CPI (Maoist) general secretary Nambala Keshav Rao alias Basavaraju.
