Amit Shah to Review Manipur Security and Delhi Law Enforcement in Key Meetings

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will chair a security review meeting on March 1, his first since President's Rule was imposed in Manipur following Chief Minister N. Biren Singh's resignation.
Manipur has faced ethnic violence since May 2023, with over 250 lives lost; efforts to recover looted weapons and promote peace among Meitei and Kuki groups are ongoing.
Governor Ajay Bhalla extended the deadline for surrendering looted arms to March 6, with over 300 weapons surrendered under an amnesty program so far.
In a separate high-level meeting, Shah directed Delhi Police to adopt a 'ruthless approach' to dismantle interstate gangs, drug networks, and illegal immigration channels involving Rohingyas and Bangladeshis.
Shah emphasized improving public safety in Delhi, including resolving daily traffic jams, addressing women's safety, and ensuring faster resolution of pending legal cases like the 2020 riots.
