Amit Shah to Attend Assam BJP’s Aug. 29 Panchayat Convention Launching 2026 Campaign
The party is turning a panchayat gathering into a statewide grassroots push.

- The BJP said the Khanapara event will formally kick off its Assembly poll drive for 2026.
- Nearly 20,000 elected representatives are expected, including 16,671 from the BJP’s panchayats and over 1,500 from ally AGP.
- Leaders from NDA partners and members of autonomous councils such as Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao are slated to join.
- No representatives from the Bodoland Territorial Region will participate because of the forthcoming BTC elections.
- During his day-long visit, Shah will inaugurate the new Assam Raj Bhavan building and launch Golap Borbora’s birth centenary celebrations at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra.
