Amit Shah Opens NIA Anti-Terror Meet, Launches Organised Crime Network and Weapons Databases

He signaled a forthcoming 360-degree campaign against organised crime, urging uniform ATS design alongside stronger data sharing.

Overview

  • The NIA rolled out the Organised Crime Network Database and a national database for lost, looted and recovered weapons, and released an updated crime manual.
  • Shah said a plan for a "360-degree" assault on organised crime will be introduced in the coming days, calling for a common ATS structure under a "duty to share" approach to data.
  • He cited recent probes to say 40 kg of explosives were used in the 10 November Red Fort blast and about three tonnes were recovered before they could be detonated.
  • Officials described the OCND as an AI-driven platform that integrates FIRs, charge sheets and dossiers across states to give investigators real-time access, with tools such as voice matching and fingerprint data.
  • Home ministry officials said India’s first national anti-terror policy is being finalised, with the conference expected to provide inputs to that process.
