Amit Shah Lays Foundation Stone for Tribhuvan Sahkari University in Gujarat

Professionalising India’s cooperative sector through merit-based training of two million workers, the university anchors the country’s first national cooperative research and development council.

Overview

  • The 125-acre campus in Anand, Gujarat, will be built at a cost of ₹500 crore following Saturday’s bhoomi pujan ceremony led by Union Minister Amit Shah.
  • Academic programmes will span PhDs, managerial degrees, supervisory diplomas and operational certificates across cooperative management, finance, law and rural development.
  • Over the next five years, the university aims to train around 20 lakh personnel from PACS, dairy cooperatives, fisheries and related societies to meet the sector’s growing manpower needs.
  • A dedicated research and development council will be established to drive innovation and affordable technological solutions in rural and cooperative institutions.
  • Merit-based recruitment rules will eliminate nepotism and link more than 200 cooperative bodies into a national network under transparent governance.
