Amit Shah Inaugurates Guwahati Police Commissionerate HQ and Citywide Surveillance System

The ₹292 crore package pairs a permanent headquarters with an ICCC-run CCTV network to centralize Guwahati’s policing.

  • Shah unveiled two projects totalling ₹292 crore, including a ₹111 crore headquarters in Khanapara and a ₹181 crore Intelligent City Surveillance System.
  • The surveillance upgrade is anchored by an Integrated Command and Control Centre with 2,000 CCTV cameras and 60 citizen safety and alerting systems.
  • The new multi-storey headquarters brings all Guwahati Police branches under one roof with seating for 400 officers, a library and an archive, plus rainwater harvesting and solar panels.
  • Shah flagged off 39 mobile forensic vans to boost scientific investigations across Assam Police.
  • A CID exhibition on the new Bharatiya Nyaya, Nagarik Suraksha and Sakshya laws opened at the site, as Shah also urged voters to support the BJP in next year’s Assembly polls.
