• Shah arrived in Guwahati and was set to chair the Assam BJP core committee meeting to review preparations for elections due next year.
• Ahead of the trip, the party named a new 18-member core committee with J.P. Nadda’s approval, including Himanta Biswa Sarma, Sarbananda Sonowal and Pabitra Margherita.
• On Friday, Shah will inaugurate the Brahmaputra wing of Raj Bhavan and e-launch the National Cyber Forensic Laboratory along with projects for the ITBP, SSB and Assam Rifles.
• He will address the NDA Panchayat Sanmilan and inaugurate the birth centenary celebrations of former chief minister Golap Borbora.
• Himanta Biswa Sarma said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Assam visit was rescheduled due to the September 9 vice president election.
