Amie Harwick's Ex-Boyfriend Convicted of Murder for Throwing Her Off Balcony

Gareth Pursehouse was convicted this week of murdering his ex-girlfriend, Dr. Amie Harwick, by throwing her off a third-floor balcony at her Hollywood Hills apartment in February 2020.
Pursehouse was also found guilty of first-degree residential burglary and faces a potential maximum life sentence in state prison without the possibility of parole.
Harwick, a well-known sex therapist who was previously engaged to comedian Drew Carey, had a restraining order against Pursehouse due to his threatening behavior.
The jury reached their verdict after seven hours of deliberation, finding that Pursehouse waited for Harwick in her apartment with malicious intent.
Harwick died from blunt force trauma after being thrown over the balcony as well as manual strangulation.
