Overview
- Eligible U.S. Membership Rewards accounts get 1,150 LifeMiles for every 1,000 points transferred during Nov. 3–30, with a 1,000-point minimum and a required LifeMiles enrollment.
- Transfers are irreversible, and the bonus is applied by LifeMiles on the back end, sometimes posting in a separate entry; posting is often near-instant, though terms advise allowing up to 24–72 hours.
- LifeMiles is useful for premium-cabin redemptions on Star Alliance carriers with generally low cash surcharges, such as business class to Europe that often prices around 69,000 miles one way.
- Reported sweet spots include SWISS business class JFK–ZRH at about 55,000 miles and Lufthansa First Class near 128,000 miles one way, which equate to roughly 48,000 and 112,000 Amex points with the bonus.
- Frequent IT issues, inconsistent award visibility, limited customer support, change or cancellation fees, and mile expiration rules mean travelers should confirm availability on LifeMiles before transferring.
