Overview
- American Express publicly updated benefit terms on October 22, 2026 to rename the $600 hotel credit the "$600 Lodging Credit" and to add eligible Airbnb Luxe stays.
- Starting January 1, 2027, Fine Hotels + Resorts, The Hotel Collection and Airbnb Luxe bookings must be at least two nights to trigger the up to $300 semiannual lodging statement credit.
- Fine Hotels + Resorts on-property perks such as daily breakfast, a property credit, upgrades and late checkout will remain for one-night stays but those one-night stays will no longer qualify for the lodging credit after the new rule takes effect.
- Amex is integrating more than 1 million Airbnb listings into Amex Travel, lets cardmembers earn Membership Rewards on prepaid Airbnb bookings (Platinum cards earn 5x), and offers an up-to-$250 Airbnb Experiences statement credit after a qualifying Luxe booking.
- The change raises Amex’s expected travel-portal commission per credit and may create breakage because some cardholders will skip using the credit rather than book a second night, so members are advised to prepay one-night FHR stays before year-end if they want to lock the current rules.
