'American Nightmare': Netflix Documentary Unravels Real-Life 'Gone Girl' Case

Netflix is releasing a new documentary series, 'American Nightmare', about the real-life 'Gone Girl' case of Denise Huskins and her boyfriend Aaron Quinn, who were kidnapped in 2015.
The couple were drugged, bound and Huskins was kidnapped for 48 hours, during which Quinn was ordered to complete tasks and pay a ransom.
Despite Huskins being released as promised, the police were skeptical of their story and even accused them of wasting resources and instilling fear in the community.
The case took a turn when a similar attempted kidnapping led to the arrest of Matthew Muller, who was eventually sentenced to 40 years in prison for the crime.
Huskins and Quinn sued the City of Vallejo for defamation and won a $2.5 million settlement in 2018.
