American-Israeli Mother and Daughter Freed After Hamas Captivity

Judith Raanan and her 18-year-old daughter, Natalie, were captured by Hamas militants during an attack on southern Israel on Oct. 7, resulting in about 1,200 deaths and 200 hostages.
The hostages were released on Oct. 20 after a deal was negotiated by the Qatari government, marking the first of several waves of hostage releases.
Throughout their captivity, Raanan used the song 'What a Wonderful World' by Louis Armstrong to keep her daughter calm, despite the dire circumstances.
Raanan and her daughter were taken at gunpoint from their home near the Gaza border to a Hamas-run hospital, where they spent two weeks fearing for their lives.
An estimated 100 people are still believed to be held captive by Hamas, according to Judith Raanan.
