American Airlines Finalizes Six Summer 2026 Long-Haul Routes with New DallasAthens Service

Ticket sales open August 11 following final fleet assignments for 787-8 Dreamliners on most routes, with DallasBuenos Aires extended into World Cup season.

Overview

  • American’s only new long-haul launch is daily Dallas–Fort Worth–Athens service beginning May 21, 2026, operated with Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners.
  • Five pre-pandemic services will return with summer seasonal flights from Philadelphia to Budapest and Prague, from Dallas to Zurich and Buenos Aires, and year-round MiamiMilan service launching March 29.
  • All six routes will use Boeing 787-8s except the DallasZurich service, which will deploy Boeing 777-200s, while Tokyo Haneda flights will be upgauged to 777-series jets to boost premium capacity.
  • The DallasBuenos Aires run will extend through August 3, 2026, to support travel for nine 2026 FIFA World Cup matches hosted in Dallas.
  • Tickets for all new and resumed long-haul routes will be available starting August 11 on American’s website.
