American Airlines Adopts Apple AirTag Location Sharing for Lost Luggage

The airline now supports iOS 18.2’s feature allowing passengers to share AirTag locations to expedite the recovery of delayed baggage.

American Airlines has integrated Apple's 'Share Item Location' feature, enabling passengers to share AirTag-equipped luggage locations with the airline.
The feature, introduced in iOS 18.2, allows users to generate a secure link via the Find My app for tracking misplaced items.
Passengers can initiate baggage claims by scanning a QR code at the baggage office, helping reduce the time to reunite with lost bags.
Fewer than 1% of checked bags are mishandled, but American Airlines expects this feature to further improve recovery times.
Other airlines, including Delta, United, and Lufthansa, have already adopted the AirTag functionality, with more expected to follow.
