AMD Sets July 23 Launch for Zen 5 Threadripper PRO 9000 WX CPUs and Radeon AI PRO R9700

Sales will begin through leading OEMs with AMD’s channel partners offering processors aimed at professional rendering for AI workloads.

Overview

  • AMD confirmed retail availability of Threadripper PRO 9000 WX series processors and the Radeon AI PRO R9700 GPU on July 23, opening pre-orders through Dell, HP, Lenovo, Supermicro and DIY channels.
  • The Zen 5-based CPU lineup includes five SKUs ranging from the 16-core 9955WX at $1,649 to the 96-core 9995WX at $11,699, each supporting eight-channel DDR5-6400 memory at 350W TDP.
  • Internal AMD testing shows the flagship 9995WX delivers up to 26% higher workstation performance over its Zen 4 predecessor and up to 495% greater AI throughput compared with Intel’s Xeon W9-3595X.
  • Independent Geekbench leaks indicate the non-Pro Threadripper 9980X achieves about 11% single-thread and 16% multi-thread gains versus the 7980X at the same 350W power envelope.
  • The Radeon AI PRO R9700 GPU, equipped with 32 GB of GDDR6 memory and 128 AI accelerators, will ship exclusively in prebuilt workstations for on-premise AI inference and development.
