AMD Corrects Driver Notes, Says RX 7900 USB-C Power Remains Enabled
Users do not need to roll back drivers to retain USB-C power on RX 7900 reference cards.
Overview
- AMD said the Adrenalin 25.10.2 release notes were erroneous and confirmed the update does not change USB-C functionality on RX 7900 XT/XTX reference boards.
- The company updated the documentation and issued an apology for the confusion caused by the incorrect note.
- TechPowerUp tested RX 7900 XTX and XT reference cards and measured roughly 27W over USB-C, including during GPU load and while charging a laptop to full.
- The RX 7900 reference USB-C port supports PD 3.0 and DisplayPort 2.1 with up to 30W power delivery, consistent with the original 2022 design.
- Earlier reports that 25.10.2 disabled USB-C power and suggested reverting to 25.3.1 have been refuted by AMD’s statement and independent tests.
