Overview

  • The July 2025 Steam Hardware Survey shows AMD’s CPU share rose by 0.74 percentage points to 40.39%, while Intel slid 0.75 points to 59.5%.
  • AMD’s gaming GPU share on Steam jumped to 17.8%, rebounding from a low of 11.6% in February as Radeon RX 9000 series cards gained traction.
  • Demand for AMD’s high-end 3D V-cache models, such as the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, has driven most of the recent CPU share growth by boosting frame-rate performance.
  • AMD’s current CPU share not only marks its strongest month since Ryzen launched in 2017 but also eclipses the 37.95% peak last seen in November 2008.
  • Intel is reportedly working on its own 3D cache design as it seeks to counter AMD’s recent advances in gaming performance.
