Ambulance Worker Jailed for Attempted Murder of Boss in Hammer Attack

Stacey Smith, 46, attacked her boss, Michala Morton, with a hammer outside Morton's home in Tameside, Greater Manchester.
The attack was described by police as 'unprovoked and frenzied' and left Morton with life-changing injuries, including serious head wounds and a broken wrist.
Smith had a long-standing grudge against Morton due to disagreements over work shift patterns, which had intensified since the COVID pandemic.
Following the attack, Smith texted a friend saying 'I've smashed her head in. Oppsie xx!' and initially planned to flee to Liverpool before surrendering to police.
Smith was convicted of attempted murder and sentenced to 20 years in prison, with an additional five years on license, and was issued a restraining order against contacting the victim.
