Overview
- Ambriola issued a Class I recall of grated Pecorino Romano processed at its New Jersey facility and sold under Ambriola, Locatelli, Boar’s Head, Member’s Mark and Pinna labels, with distribution reported nationwide in early November.
- Major chains including Walmart, Target, Sam’s Club, Kroger and Wegmans have removed affected lots and are offering refunds.
- Wegmans’ recall covers Locatelli grated Pecorino Romano sold Nov. 14–24 across CT, DE, MD, MA, NC, NJ, NY, PA, VA and D.C., with all lots pulled and tubs identifiable by UPC starting 2-77580-XXXXX-7.
- Boar’s Head said it is withdrawing all products produced for the brand by Ambriola out of caution, and two Boar’s Head grated Romano items distributed to Kroger stores in Kentucky and Indiana are under recall.
- No illnesses have been reported to date; customers are urged not to consume the products and to discard or return them, as Listeria poses heightened risks to older adults, pregnant people and those with weakened immune systems.
