Amberg Police Reopen 2014 Dieter Loew Killing as a Cold Case

A newly formed team will reanalyze earlier evidence with modern forensic techniques to pursue fresh leads.

Overview

  • The Kriminalpolizei Amberg has set up a new Cold-Case-Team to review all prior traces and records from the unsolved homicide.
  • The team plans to apply contemporary technical analysis to evidence, including items that previously could not be pursued further.
  • A local poster campaign in Wernberg-Köblitz is scheduled to begin on October 17 to prompt witnesses to come forward.
  • Tips can be provided to investigators at 09621/890-2121, and a €5,000 reward for useful information remains available to private individuals.
  • The original probe, which at times involved up to 30 investigators, was provisionally suspended in June 2019 after the 76-year-old co-founder of Dr. Loew Soziale Dienstleistungen was attacked on December 21–22, 2014 and died four weeks later.
