The move will simplify branding and preserve free, ad-supported access for Prime and non-Prime viewers in key markets.

Overview

  • Amazon has set August 31, 2025 as the final day for the standalone Freevee app in the US, UK, Germany and Austria.
  • All Freevee originals, licensed movies and series will migrate to Prime Video under a “Watch for Free” label with no titles removed.
  • Prime members will experience no change in content access while non-Prime users can continue streaming the same ad-supported library without a subscription.
  • In-app notices are directing Freevee users to download Prime Video and sign in with their Amazon account to keep watching free content.
  • Amazon does not expect any redundancies from the consolidation, noting Freevee teams have already been integrated into Prime Video.
