Overview
- Marc Beckman, Melania Trump’s senior adviser, said Tuesday that Amazon Prime will premiere a multi-episode docuseries this fall following the first lady into the start of the 47th presidential administration.
- Beckman described the project as a different, deeper-format follow-up to the January film, promising expanded behind-the-scenes access to Melania’s private life, marriage, family, career and philanthropy.
- Amazon has not responded to requests for comment about the new series and the announcement came on Real America’s Voice in an interview with Eric Bolling.
- The move follows the Brett Ratner-directed documentary Melania, which was released on Jan. 30 and was widely reported to have cost about $75 million while earning roughly $16.6 million worldwide, a result that drew public scrutiny.
- The earlier film revived debate over production choices and political optics after director Brett Ratner’s involvement and after President Trump’s July financial disclosures showed a $10.71 million licensing fee for the project, while Jeff Bezos publicly defended the original investment as a sound business decision.
