• Amazon will retire the standalone Freevee app in August 2025, warning users through an in-app message.
• Freevee’s ad-supported content will move to Prime Video, where viewers can stream for free with ads even without a Prime subscription.
• The Freevee app has already been removed from Google Play in Germany and Austria while remaining available on Apple’s App Store in those markets.
• Freevee provided a limited ad-funded catalog of films, series and FAST channels that excluded Amazon’s full content rights.
• Amazon has been embedding ads into paid Prime Video streams since September 2023 and offers a €2.99 monthly option to remove them.
