Amazon to End Prime Invitee on Oct. 1, Shift Sharing to Amazon Family

Amazon is offering affected invitees a discounted first year of Prime as cross‑address shipping access ends.

Overview

  • Amazon confirmed that Prime Invitee will be discontinued on Oct. 1 and that sharing must move to Amazon Family.
  • Sharing under Amazon Family requires linked accounts at the same primary residential address with shared payment methods, capped at one other adult, up to four teens added before April 7, 2025, and up to four children.
  • Shareable perks include free shipping, exclusive shopping events, Prime Video with up to three simultaneous streams, Amazon Music, free Grubhub+, and fuel savings at BP, Amoco, and AMPM locations.
  • Certain plans cannot share benefits, including free trials, student and young adult Prime, and Prime Video–only memberships, and Amazon enforces member limits and a 12‑month wait before joining a different Family.
  • Affected invitees have been notified and offered Prime for $14.99 for the first year, and Amazon says gift or alternate‑address shipping for purchases remains available.
