Amazon Sets Great Indian Festival for Sept. 23 With Fee Cuts, AI Tools and a Logistics Ramp-Up

  • Amazon confirmed the sale begins September 23 with 24-hour early access for Prime members on September 22, shortly after GST changes take effect.
  • To speed deliveries, the company invested about ₹2,000 crore this year, added 12 fulfilment centres, six sort centres and 45 delivery stations, and hired roughly 150,000 seasonal workers.
  • Seller costs are being lowered through zero referral fees on over 1.2 crore low-priced products, fee cuts across fast-moving categories, reduced weight-handling charges, and promotions such as “Sell More Save More.”

  • Amazon expects participation from about 1.7 million sellers and aims to top last year’s ~140 crore visits, as surveys show a 115% rise in households planning to shop primarily online and estimate urban festive spending at ₹2.19 lakh crore.
