Overview
- Amazon has rolled out in-house same-day delivery of fresh groceries in selected areas of Frankfurt, Cologne and Munich with groceries added directly to the regular Amazon shopping cart.
- The service offers two delivery windows — a four-hour option and a two-hour option — with the shorter window costing an extra €4.90 when an order is under €29.
- Prime members get same-day delivery free for orders of €29 or more and pay €3.99 below that threshold, while non-Prime customers face a flat €9.99 per delivery.
- Amazon says items will be stored, picked and packed in temperature-controlled environments and checked by staff at multiple stations before dispatch to protect quality.
- This marks Amazon’s third major German grocery strategy after the 2017 Amazon Fresh launch and a later partnership model, and it places the company in direct competition with former partner Knuspr as it plans to expand to more cities.
