Amazon Releases New Fire TV Stick 4K and Redesigned Remote

The update moves Fire TV to Amazon’s Vega OS to speed app launches while phasing out sideloading and rolling out an Alexa+ on-screen hub in stages.

Overview

  • Amazon announced the Fire TV Stick 4K and a redesigned Fire TV Remote on Wednesday, Sept. 30, with the stick shipping immediately in multiple countries.
  • The new stick uses a quad-core 1.7 GHz chip, 8 GB storage, Wi‑Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, and supports 4K at 60 fps and modern HDR formats to shorten app launches and playback times.
  • Fire TV Stick 4K is priced at $59.99 and is available now with a limited U.S. Prime Big Deal Days price of $29.99; the redesigned remote can be preordered standalone for $14.99.
  • The device ships with Amazon’s Vega OS, which Amazon says improves speed but also removes the ability to sideload apps, a change that will affect power users who install unofficial apps.
  • Amazon will begin a staged rollout of the Alexa+ on-screen hub in November for higher-end Fire TV models and expand to the new 4K stick and more countries early next year, while a premium Fire TV Remote Plus with a Find My Remote feature is due in early 2027.
