Amazon Releases Faster Fire TV Stick 4K With Redesigned Remote

The update tightens Amazon’s Fire TV strategy by speeding app and playback start times, simplifying setup with TV USB power, plus adding an Alexa+ recommendation hub.

Overview

  • The Fire TV Stick 4K began shipping Wednesday, Sept. 30, with a $59.99 MSRP and a limited U.S. launch price of $29.99 to $30, and it includes the redesigned tactile remote in the box.
  • Amazon says the stick runs its Vega OS on a quad‑core 1.7 GHz chip with 8GB of storage, Wi‑Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3 and support for HDR formats and AV1 up to 4K 60fps to speed app launches and content start times.
  • The device supports Direct Power, letting users plug the stick into a TV’s USB port instead of using a wall adapter to make setup neater and reduce cables behind the set.
  • Amazon will sell the new remote standalone for $14.99 with shipping in late October, and it plans a premium Fire TV Remote Plus with an aluminum body and a Find My Remote feature in early 2027.
  • Software changes include a dedicated Alexa+ hub that Amazon says will deliver more context‑aware recommendations, with a staged rollout to select U.S. Fire TV models starting in November and wider expansion to the new stick and more countries in early 2027.
