Amazon Pledges $35 Billion in India by 2030 to Boost AI, Exports and Jobs

The pledge builds on roughly $40 billion already invested in India since 2010.

  • Amazon announced the commitment at the sixth Smbhav Summit in New Delhi, with Senior Vice President Amit Agarwal outlining the plan.
  • Spending will center on AI-led digitisation, export expansion and employment growth across the company’s India operations.
  • Targets include lifting cumulative e-commerce exports enabled to $80 billion by 2030 and generating one million additional direct, indirect, induced and seasonal jobs.
  • A new Accelerate Exports initiative will run on-ground onboarding drives in manufacturing clusters such as Tirupur, Kanpur and Surat, supported by a partnership with the Apparel Export Promotion Council of India.
  • An accompanying Keystone Strategy report cites over 12 million small businesses digitised, about $20 billion in cumulative exports enabled and roughly 2.8 million jobs supported in 2024.
