Amazon Partners With Uber Eats to Give Prime Members Free Delivery

The deal embeds Uber Eats ordering into Amazon’s site and app to boost Prime value and simplify meal orders for U.S. members.

Overview

  • Prime members can now order from hundreds of thousands of Uber Eats restaurants directly on Amazon.com and in the Amazon Shopping app with no separate Uber account required.
  • Every Uber Eats restaurant order of $25 or more placed through Amazon carries a $0 delivery fee and Amazon will send order progress updates while Uber Eats issues the final receipt.
  • Amazon has discontinued the commercial Grubhub+ Prime benefit as the Uber Eats integration takes effect, with the new partnership active immediately.
  • To promote the launch Prime members get $20 off each of their first two Uber Eats orders of $25 or more during the initial 14-day period and Prime Visa cardholders earn 5% back on orders through Dec. 5.
  • The move deepens Amazon’s wider ties with Uber across cloud services, robotics and voice assistants and adds a Prime perk that could pressure rivals as delivery platforms consolidate and retailers expand their own services.
