Amazon Opens Fully Robotized 110,000 m² Distribution Center in Beauvais

The site will raise shipments from October 19 as it ramps to several hundred thousand parcels per day to serve the holiday peak.

Overview

  • The new Beauvais platform, called BVA 3, began inventory operations on September 28 and was formally inaugurated on Friday, October 9, with robots and 7 km of conveyors already active.
  • Amazon says the site will scale in phases and plans to increase outbound shipments from October 19 to prepare for Black Friday and Christmas demand.
  • The facility covers 110,000 m² and uses automated pods and conveyor systems that bring items to workers rather than having staff walk the floor.
  • Amazon announced nearly 1,000 new jobs for the site, including 800 permanent contracts (CDI) already signed, with priority given to local residents and people distant from employment.
  • Local officials expect the Novaparc activity zone to attract other firms and could create up to 5,000 jobs and cut unemployment by 1–2 points, but residents and unions voice mixed views about effects on small shops and working conditions.
