Overview
- Amazon has launched its Amazon Now quick-delivery service in Visakhapatnam using nine More Retail stores and reported an encouraging response with orders far higher than its earlier Amazon Fresh offering.
- Company figures cited strong user engagement with about 40% of customers returning to buy again within four to six weeks and Amazon Now orders running roughly six to seven times higher than prior Fresh volumes.
- Amazon says the service has crossed more than $1 billion in annualised gross sales and that orders have doubled every quarter since the service began in early 2025.
- The rollouts now cover around 20 cities in Andhra Pradesh and more than 120 cities nationally, and the service will be included in the Amazon Great Indian Festival with SBI card discounts and existing delivery-fee thresholds for Prime and non-Prime customers.
- Amazon is scaling supply through roughly 18,000 farmers, tens of thousands of local sellers and close-to-micro fulfilment centres so customers can get a wider mix of items, with about 40% of each order now non-grocery and rising demand for healthier products.
