Amazon Names Uber Eats Its Restaurant-Delivery Partner for Prime

The move aims to boost Prime's value by giving members integrated, account-free access to hundreds of thousands of restaurants with delivery-fee waivers on orders over $25.

Overview

  • The companies announced the partnership Thursday, activating integrated Uber Eats ordering on Amazon.com and the Amazon Shopping app that does not require Prime members to create an Uber account.
  • Prime members will pay no delivery fee on Uber Eats restaurant orders of $25 or more and can get $20 off each of their first two qualifying orders during a 14-day launch promotion.
  • Amazon's commercial benefit with Grubhub ends as the Uber Eats integration takes effect, closing a relationship that began with a Prime–Grubhub tie in 2022 and included equity arrangements tied to Just Eat Takeaway.
  • Orders placed through Amazon use existing Amazon credentials and payment methods, with Amazon providing delivery updates before Uber Eats sends final confirmations to customers.
  • The deal deepens existing Amazon–Uber ties across cloud services, robotaxi work and Alexa integrations, and it comes as U.S. delivery and grocery services are consolidating and retailers build competing options.
