Amazon MGM Studios to Adapt Bestselling Book 'Fourth Wing' into TV Series, Further Books in Series May Follow

Amazon MGM and Michael B. Jordan's Outlier Society co-produce adaptation of Rebecca Yarros' fantasy series 'The Empryean', starting with 'Fourth Wing'; if successful, each book in the series may get its own TV adaptation.

  • Amazon MGM Studios in cooperation with Michael B. Jordan's Outlier Society have acquired the adaptation rights for Rebecca Yarros' bestselling book series 'The Empyrean'. They will begin by turning the first book, 'Fourth Wing', into a television show on Prime Video.
  • The 'Fourth Wing' TV series will follow the story of 20-year-old Violet Sorrengail in the brutal Basgiath War College, where she aims to become an élite dragon rider. The storyline combines suspense, action, romance, and dragons in a captivating fantasy adventure.
  • In addition to 'Fourth Wing', Amazon MGM Studios has also secured the rights to the follow-up novel 'Iron Flame', and the remaining three books in the 'Empyrean' series from Entangled Publishing. Each book in the series may potentially be developed into its own separate TV project if the initial adaptation proves successful.
  • Rebecca Yarros, the author of the series, is involved in the production as a non-writing executive producer, working alongside Liz Pelletier for Entangled Publishing. Details regarding writers or cast members have not been released.
  • Following its release on May 2, 'Fourth Wing' quickly became popular on social platforms such as TikTok and remained on the New York Times Bestseller list for 25 consecutive weeks, further establishing its potential for a successful adaptation.
