Overview

  • Same-day perishable delivery is now available in 1,000 U.S. cities, with a promise to expand to 2,300 by the end of 2025.
  • Prime members receive free delivery on grocery orders over $25, with a $2.99 fee for smaller orders and a $12.99 fee for non-Prime customers.
  • The service integrates fresh produce, dairy, meat, seafood and frozen goods into Amazon’s standard delivery logistics, eliminating separate Amazon Fresh or Whole Foods checkouts.
  • Amazon is deploying a temperature-controlled fulfillment network featuring six-point quality checks and insulated recyclable bags to maintain freshness.
  • The rollout prompted declines in shares of Instacart, Walmart and Kroger and builds on pilots that doubled shopping frequency among first-time grocery users.
