Amazon Labor Union Affiliates with Teamsters for Greater Support

The grassroots union seeks to bolster its efforts in organizing Amazon's workforce amid ongoing challenges and internal strife.

Overview

The Amazon Labor Union (ALU) will join the Teamsters as an autonomous local chapter, pending member ratification.
ALU President Chris Smalls emphasizes the need for a union contract, over two years after the initial victory at Staten Island.
Internal conflicts within ALU have led to the formation of a dissident group and a pending leadership election.
The Teamsters offer ALU financial, legal, and structural support to strengthen their organizing efforts.
Amazon continues to legally challenge the ALU's victory, delaying contract negotiations.
