Amazon Joins Motion Picture Association with Prime Video and MGM Studios

The addition marks the first new member since Netflix in 2019, enhancing collective efforts in content protection and policymaking.

Amazon's Prime Video and MGM Studios will officially join the MPA on October 1, 2024.
The MPA now includes Paramount, Sony, Universal, Disney, Warner Bros. Discovery, Netflix, and Amazon.
Amazon's move follows its $8.5 billion purchase of MGM in 2022 and its ongoing investment in entertainment.
The MPA focuses on copyright protection, anti-piracy efforts, and advancing the film and TV industry.
Amazon has been involved with the MPA's anti-piracy coalition, ACE, since 2017, and MGM was an MPA member until 2005.
